A. Chlorine

Advantages

  • Powerful and cost-effective disinfectant
  • Quickly eliminates bacteria and algae

Disadvantages

  • Can cause skin and eye irritation
  • Less effective in warm and acidic water

B. Bromine

Advantages

  • Less irritating to skin and eyes
  • Effective in a wide range of pH and temperatures

Disadvantages

  • More expensive than chlorine
  • Requires specific equipment

C. Ozone

Advantages

  • Powerful oxidant
  • Destroys bacteria, viruses, and algae
  • Leaves no chemical residues

Disadvantages

  • Expensive to purchase and maintain
  • Must be used in combination with another disinfectant

D. Ultraviolet

Advantages

  • Destroys microorganisms by damaging their DNA
  • Eco-friendly and produces no harmful chemical by-products

Disadvantages

  • Less effective against algae
  • Requires regular maintenance to clean lamps

E. Mineral Salts

Advantages

  • Reduces the amount of chlorine needed
  • Less irritating to skin and eyes

Disadvantages

  • Can be costly
  • Not compatible with all types of pools and spas
