FAQ: common questions about pool and spa closing
![]()
When should I close my pool?
Ideally between late September and early November, when nighttime temperatures consistently fall below 10 °C (50 °F). This helps prevent algae growth while avoiding a too-early closing that could affect water quality.
Should I stop water treatment before closing?
No. It's strongly recommended to continue treating the water (chlorine, pH, algaecide) until about a week before closing. Well-balanced water makes spring reopening much easier. If your water is clear at the first frost, it will likely stay that way until spring.
Do I need to be present during the closing?
Not necessarily. We notify you ahead of time and provide a full report after the visit, detailing what was done and any recommendations for aftercare.
What happens if my pool isn’t ready (e.g. water level too high or equipment not stored)?
No problem—we can adjust the water level or move minor equipment if needed. However, to avoid delays or extra charges, we’ll send you a simple prep checklist before the appointment.
Do you also offer spring opening services?
Absolutely. By booking both closing[14.1] and opening with H2PRO, you get a smooth seasonal transition and consistent maintenance. Plus, you may benefit from combo discounts!
What if I notice an issue after the closing?
Contact us quickly. If the issue is linked to our closing procedure, we’ll take the necessary corrective action. Our closings are covered by a workmanship guarantee.
